I began transitions on June 2 and have been on the program for 4 weeks. After 3 weeks I lost 3 inches and 6 pounds but my body fat went up. I am in a class with a colleague of mine. She also lost inches and a few pounds and her body fat also went up. Has this happened to any one else?

Also do not worry about the weight. Weight can fluctuate so much. If your menstruating you hold more water weight. Also if you drink a lot of water before you weigh yourself that can effect your weight. Say I drank a 160z bottle of water before I weigh myself that is an entire pound of weight.
16oz=1lb.

Most of the "machines" that measure body fat are inaccurate. Don\'t worry about what the fat calculations are, it\'s the girth (bust, waist, hips) measurements that are the real indication of body fat reduction. Keep doing what you are doing!

I just completed the first week of detox. My body fat also went up. But I am thinking it is because I did not exercise (but did walk everyday). I am going to wait and see what happens after I start working out and building muscle. Are you working out? Also, one night I had cramps in my muscles... so I was thinking it was a process that was going on during detox!

When people lose weight, they often lose it unevenly. Some weeks you may lose pounds, some weeks you may lose fat %, other weeks, you may lose inches. It actually doesn't take many inches to make a difference in the way your clothes fit. Most sizes only has an inch or two of difference between one size and another.
Someone was asking about whether or not body fat was the same as the Body Mass Index (BMI). It is not the same. Body fat can be calculated best electronically. There are also some methods where you take something that looks like glorified pliers and you "pinch" your fat in certain areas of your body to get different fat measurements. The best methods that calculate your body fat percentage require you to input your sex, age, height, and weight. I hope this helps!

I'v been on the program for 8weeks and I lost 8lbs., my body fat% went up, my bone mass went down, and I didn't lose much in inches, but, I'm wearing clothes I haven't worn in 2years....What's up with that?

Is body fat the same as BMI (body mass index)?

How do you figure out body fat based on the measurements, I can't find that in our book or any documentation provided?

Are you doing your exercise regimen? You must not be gaining weight as muscle. Can\'t think of anything else specifically? Have not come across this in my classes.
Theresa wrote on 12/8/08
Yes. You need to make sure you are drinking atleast 8 glasses of water a day. The body fat will catch up.

My body fat also went up. I was told that by adding more excise that # would drop so I am going to join curves. Regardless I feel amazing.

If you are getting cramps in legs, it shouldn\'t be the detox diet. It may be that you are not consuming enough fluid. While detoxing, drink lots of water and or teas (no sweet stuff added).\r\nHope it helps!\r\nTammie M.

Thank you for the tips and comments. One other thing my transitions coach suggested in eating more often. Often 6 hours or more passed between lunch and dinner. I have been focusing on eating a healthy snack in the afternoon, drinking more water and increasing the exercise. After the last weigh in the BMI was down 5 points. After 8 weeks on the program the weight is down a total of 9 pounds with 4 inches lost.

Brenda:\r\nIt sounds like you are losing muscle and water... I had a client do the same thing and with just a little more intake of quality foods and regualting her water intake according to a "rule of thumb" that I use, once to the bathroom every two hours. over time should make a difference. This is only my opinion!!! Hope this helps!\r\n\r\nBlessings,\r\n\r\nMr. Wellness

Yes. It happened to some of my participants. I am a Transition Certified Coach and I\'ve run two 12-week programs with 13 participants. Some of the participants have the same problem. The reason is that they did not drink enough water. Because water and body fat are directly related. If your did not drink enough water, your body fat will go up and your water will go down. To solve this problem, you need to drink more water. When you drink water, you should drink slowly, only a few sips a time, don\'t drink the whole 8 oz of water a time. If you drink too fast, your body can\'t absorb it and maybe you need to "P" right a way. So you should drink slowly. Also, during the day, drink at lease 8 oz of water mixed with two scoops of Complete Green, it is very good for loss weight and body fat. Hope this will help you and your colleague.\r\nEleanor, email: jcheng6819@earthlink.net

I have experienced if you have a scale that measures body fat and water; if your water is down your body fat will be up... keep measuring.. Teresa Sykes
TIM BANACH wrote on 7/7/08
I totally agree that the scales can vary plus or minus 5%. This could mean that you actually lost a couple percent instead of gained a percent or two!
