Exercise has been a life saver for me. Because of getting back into a good exercise regimen, I have been able to reverse many of my of physical/medical issues. In November 2009, I began a journey that seemed daunting to say the least. I was morbidly obese. I had undergone 20 major surgeries including coronary artery bypass surgery at the age of 44 and a total knee replacement at the age of 41. In 2009 I was 51 years old and felt as though my life was going to be one of an invalid for the rest of my life. I had the good fortune of a gentleman who told me he wanted to be my life coach to help me regain my life. I started implementing the Transitions Lifestyle System to change the way I was eating. Four weeks into the program my coach told me it was time to begin an exercise regimen. I could not walk well and I would get short of breath very easily. I just wanted to laugh at him. He would not take no for an answer. I began riding the recumbent bike. He wanted me to ride for 30 minutes. I made it the 30 minutes, however, I thought I would pass out. I could hardly breathe. I rode 5 miles that day. He encouraged me to continue each day with the same routine. Incredibly after 4 weeks I was riding the bike for 60 minutes and completing 12 miles. Coach Dennis told me it was time to start working out on the elliptical. I argued with him telling him that I would fall off of the machine. I told him my balance was horrible and I would never be able to do this. Well, he did not take those excuses lightly and told me he just wanted 5 minutes from me. I gave in and tried it on January 4, 2010. I barely made the five minutes. Once again I thought I was going to pass out, vomit or both. My coach would not let me give up. He continued to press me to work harder. I am so grateful he did. It is now May 2011. I am now able to complete 60 minutes on the elliptical, all at one time. My exercise routine has totally changed. I now work out 5 to 6 days a week. I work with weights for 20 to 30 minutes each day and work on the elliptical for between 35 to 45 minutes each day. I have lost 105 lbs, 21 inches from my waist and 47 inches total. Inches Lost: 21 in.

The weight loss, the rebuilding of my energy and stamina and the inches lost are all incredible and wonderful results of my exercise routine. However, the change in my medical issues has also been phenomenal. I have heard many times - Exercise, it is good for your health. I never thought I would be able to exercise again in my life, let alone change my health. The results that I have had are life-changing. My Cardiologist is literally amazed. I had an 85% blockage in my Left Anterior Descending artery. This is the main artery that feeds blood to the heart. Because of the exercising, I have opened the blockage up to 40%. This is a typical percentage of blockage for females who are 53 years of age. My Cholesterol in September 2009, prior to beginning the exercise program was 214. In April 2011 it was 155. My LDL was 137 in September 2009. In April 2011 it was 93. My Triglycerides were 135 in September 2009. In April 2011 they were 96. I have previously been diagnosed as having Diabetes. I was taking 18 different medications. Because of the exercise and weight loss, I now take only 2 medications and my Diabetes is completely under control. I no longer take medication for Diabetes or heart disease. The changes that I have been able to make because of exercising have given me a new lease on life. I have changed my BMI from 51 to 30. My muscle mass has increased and my body works more efficiently. I am so grateful to my Coach for wanting to help me to obtain a new lease on my life. Exercising has become a very important part of my life.
